Bhopal is a historic city and a City of Lakes. There are many historic places to visit like Upper lake, Van Vihar (drive through National Wildlife Park), Museaum of Mankind (Manav Sanghralaya), Bharat Bhavan (Art Gallery), Tribal Museum, Shaurya Smarak, Yodhasthal, Birla Mandir, Regional Science Centre, Mahavira Giri (Cable Rope way) and Taj-ul-Masjid Masjid. Half day city tours cover most of these places. Besides, there is a boat club at Upper Lake with various water sports related activities.
Taj-ul-Masajid is the largest mosque in India. It was built in the 19th century and it has two 18 storey minarets with marble domes. Taj-ul-Masajid means 'The Crown of Mosques'
Sanchi Stupa is one of the oldest stone structures in India. The great emperor Ashoka, custom-built these monuments in the 3rd century BCE. It depicts the Buddhist history of our country
Laxmi Narayan Temple
Also known as the Birla Mandir, this temple was built by the Birlas and is a sign of peace and divinity. The temple has Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi statues with many others.
Also known as Bada Taalab or Upper Lake, this lake offers a lot of water sports including Kayaking, Canoeing, Rafting, Water rafting, skiing along with boating.
Van Vihar National Park
The park features a lot of wildlife. There are over 200 species of birds, and it is also a home for wild animals such as leopards, tigers, and lions among others
Raja Bhoj Statue
The statue is a massive 32 feet tall in height. It was unveiled on the occasion of 1000 years of coronation of Raja Bhoj, a king of the Parmar dynasty
Bhimbetka rock shelters
Pre-historic cave paintings of special interest to those interested in archeology.
An old historic temple of 12th century with a large monolithic shivling, this temple is unique in that it still remains incomplete. The size of the shivling and the serene atmosphere makes this place worth going
One of the Jyotirlings, visit to this temple requires a full day. Bookings can be made online and direct walk-in.
A British era hill station. Travel by road takes about 4 hour. Requires 2 days minimum.
Denwa Water resort
A forest and water resort along the Narmada, is a very serene place with forest safari and a water safari. One night stay is sufficient.

The 300 metre Raja Bhoj Setu (Cable Stay bridge) is a new landmark in the city and helps de-congest traffic

Full Day – Van vihar national park (start in morning, enjoy cycling in the road with park on one side and upper lake on the other amidst chirping of birds and hops to view the animals including tiger), take a tour of Moti masjid, Birla Mandir, Manav Sangralaya (National Museum of Mankind, requires 3-4 hours), Tribal Museum, Yodhastal and Jain temple (cable car, with scenic views in evening of the city from the hill top)
